LOVB Nebraska on Thursday added several well-known names to its ownership ranks.
The Omaha-based pro volleyball team announced five new owners, including former Creighton and NBA star Kyle Korver, former Husker and NFL veteran Zach Wiegert, and LOVB Nebraska President of Business Operations and Former Creighton Head Volleyball Coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth. The other new owners named Thursday are former Creighton and Major League Baseball player Darin Ruf, Kyle Salem and Neely Fedde Salem.
“As I near a year of being part of LOVB, I’ve seen firsthand what we are building and truly believe in the vision. It’s a model I wanted to invest in,” Bernthal Booth said in a news release.
LOVB Omaha is in its second season and is off to a 1-1 start, losing its first game to Austin in five sets before rebounding to beat Houston in five sets.
Its roster includes former Creighton player Jaali Winters, and former Huskers Lexi Rodriguez and Jordan Larson. Larson, who is also a team owner, announced last week that she will retire this year after a decorated career that includes a national championship and an Olympic gold medal.
By way of full disclosure, League One Volleyball is a financial supporter of Nebraska Public Media.
