The city of Lincoln leads the state with the percentage of fully vaccinated residents, with just over 40% of Lancaster county's residents having completed their vaccinations. And as of today, over 65% of the county's residents ages 16 and older have received at least one dose. Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said she is pleased with the progress and credits the community's efforts.

"Many have asked why is it that our community continues to be setting the pace for our state. I would point to the care, concern, the commitment, and the compassion that the people of Lincoln and Lancaster county have demonstrated throughout the pandemic."

Mayor Gaylor Baird said getting the vaccine is currently the best thing you can do to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. The city's COVID-19 risk dial remains low yellow for the second straight week, indicating a moderate threat of virus transmission.
