City and health officials announced Tuesday the Lincoln-Lancaster County COVID risk dial will remain in the mid-orange level this week.. Due to Thanksgiving weekend and limited testing, there was a dip in cases over the past week, as well as a decreased positivity rate. Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Director Pat Lopez noted that we will know more about the current state of the virus in our community within the coming weeks. Director Lopez says Lancaster County has lower rates of COVID-19 compared to other parts of the state.
"There are many factors influencing the results in Lancaster County including stronger directed health measures, business commitment to safety protocols, our mask mandate and the public's commitment to do their part to protect one another," Lopez said.
Director Lopez said city and county officials will continue to monitor the concern over the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, and use that data to determine if the mask mandate will be lifted at the end of the month.
