The Lincoln-Lancaster County COVID-19 risk dial has shifted back to yellow for the first time since late August, meaning the risk of contracting COVID-19 has gone from severe to moderate. Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said residents should look at the yellow zone like yellow on a stop-light, signaling caution.
Nearly 72,000 people in the county have registered to be notified when it's their turn to be vaccinated. Gaylor Baird said she encourages everyone to get the vaccine as soon as possible.
"A vaccine that in study after study has safely and effectively reduced the likelihood of illness and prevented hospitalizations and deaths. And our communities enthusiasm for the vaccine is yet another sign that we are making good progress on the pathway out of this pandemic.”
And Gaylor Baird said beginning this week; the health department will see a 25% increase in the allocation of vaccines from the state.
