A Lincoln-based entrepreneurial accelerator will invest another $3.7 million in Nebraska companies.

Lincoln’s mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and a number of other business leaders made the announcement Thursday morning. The multimillion dollar investment will help grow 24 Nebraska startup companies over the next two years. The money comes from a Lincoln company called NMotion – which helps smaller businesses grow through investments and mentoring.

"The 24 companies that will launch and grow as a result of today's multimillion dollar investments, they will create new jobs and demonstrate the abundant ingenuity and innovation that we are cultivating right here in Nebraska," Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said.

The company also announced Thursday it will open an Omaha office, as it expands its mission to grown Nebraska businesses. NMotion has helped start up companies like Quantified Ag, LiveBy and Realm Five, which have sold to larger companies or greatly expanded in the past couple years.

The startup companies selected will receive $100,000 investments from NMotion and Invest Nebraska – another Lincoln-based company. Other speakers at Thursday’s news conference praised the announcement, saying it would help fuel new jobs and recruit new talent to the state.
