Lincoln Airport Sees Increase in Passengers, Hopeful for the Future

Lincoln’s airport has seen a gradual increase in passengers. The airport averaged 121 passengers per day in March and so far in April has averaged 141 passengers a day.

Those are the highest passenger numbers the airport has seen in a year, but it’s still 46% below where it was in March of 2020.

Rachel Barth is the airport’s director of communication and customer engagement and said the decrease in demand impacted the availability of flights.

And the absence of Delta Air Lines for most of the pandemic affected the passenger numbers as well.

But Barth said they’re happy to see the increase and expect passenger numbers to grow with United Airlines additional flights and the return of Delta Air Lines in late May.

“Things are starting to pick up which is great. In March, like I said we’ve seen about 7,500 passengers which is the most that we’ve seen,” Barth said.

Barth said the airport will also be renovating the terminals to accommodate more carriers within the next couple years.
