JBS Beef Plant in Grand Island Raising Base & Top Wages

The JBS beef plant in Grand Island recently decided to raise its base salaries. The total payroll will increase from $150 million to $180 million. Human Resources Director at JBS, Justin Bstanding says the move will help the Grand Island community.

“At JBS, we are committed to being a good neighbor and a responsible employer in the community by recently moving our base pay to $21.50 an hour, with the ability to earn up to $28.00 an hour in our production environment,” Bstanding said.

Previously, a beginning wage at the plant was $18.25 per hour, with the highest wage reaching $27.95 per hour.

Additionally, $25.50 per hour is the new starting wage in the maintenance department. The department’s employees can advance up to $32.50 per hour.

JBS offers free college tuition through Central Community College in Grand Island for its employees and their children.

There are currently 13 jobs open at the JBS Grand Island plant, according to its website.
