A internet service provider is beginning fiber optic construction in Grand Island and Kearney this week. ALLO Communications started installing its "100% fiber" network of internet, phones and TV service.

Jerry Janulewicz, the city administrator for Grand Island, hopes competition between existing internet providers and ALLO will drive down internet prices in the city.

“I and many are looking forward to them coming to Grand Island to give us additional options where to obtain internet services,” he said. “I think it will be of great benefit to residents and businesses in Grand Island.”

ALLO is expected to start installing systems into central Nebraska homes in the middle of 2022.
