Hy-Vee recalls product amidst salmonella concerns

Hy-Vee is voluntarily recalling its Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad amidst concerns of possible contamination to Salmonella.

The Midwest grocery store chain based in Des Moines, Iowa pulled the salads off the shelves on Monday after approximately 20 Salmonella cases in a number of states, including Nebraska, were tied back to the salad.

Salmonella can cause serious, and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, or elderly people.

The recall includes all pasta salads produced between June 1 and July 3, 2018. The product is distributed to all of the 244 stores in its eight-state region.

A Food and Drug Administration announcement advised all customers who purchased the product to either dispose of it or return it for a full refund.
