The Nebraska Cornhuskers softball team has advanced to the super regionals and is two wins away from the Women’s College World Series.

The regional No. 2 seed NU defeated No. 4 seed Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday to win the Baton Rouge regional. Nebraska finished 3-0 for the weekend. The Big Red defeated UConn 10-2 on Friday, and then toppled Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday 14-1 and Sunday 8-0 to advance.

Each win came by way of the mercy rule, meaning the Cornhuskers didn’t play all seven innings in any of the three games.

Jordy Bahl led the way for the Big Red during the regional round. The Big Ten Pitcher and Player of the Year pitched 12 innings across all three games, giving up just one run, while also going 5-for-5 at the plate with four home runs, seven walks and seven runs batted in.

From Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Norman, Oklahoma, the Omaha Mavericks couldn’t advance out of their regional hosted by the No. 2 overall seed Oklahoma Sooners.

Omaha lost on Friday to California, 1-0. In the loser’s bracket, the Mavs defeated Boston University, 3-1, before falling to the Cal Bears again on Saturday, 4-0.

Omaha finished the year 40-13, which included a Summit League tournament championship and the program’s third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Cornhuskers will play against No. 7 Tennessee in a best of three super regional next weekend. The first team to win two games will advance to the College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Tennessee will host the series and enters the weekend with a 43-14 record. Nebraska improved to 42-13 on the season. Action starts 6 p.m. Central Friday in Knoxville, Tennessee.
