Nebraska men’s basketball received great news on Monday.
Leading scorer Pryce Sandfort will return next season, the basketball program announced on social media. The first-team all-Big Ten standout scored 18.1 points per game during the Huskers’ record-breaking 2025-26 season.
The junior Iowa transfer played a big role in Nebraska’s best season in school history. He made seven three-pointers in the school’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win against Troy. The Huskers set school records for wins in a season with 28 and conference wins with 15.
Across the Big Red’s three March Madness games, Sandfort hit 16 threes on 28 attempts and averaged 21 points per contest.
In a post on X, head coach Fred Hoiberg said the sharpshooter drew interest from NBA teams, “but he wants to grow his game and has very specific things he wants to work on. He feels like we have a lot of unfinished business after this year, and he wants to solidify his legacy in Lincoln and put himself in the best position for a long professional career. It’s a testament to him for betting on himself and wanting to do it here at Nebraska."
Sandfort broke the school record for three-pointers in a season with 129. He finished second in Big Ten history for single-season threes, behind Carson Edwards of Purdue who hit 135 three-pointers in 2018-19.
Sandfort joins redshirt freshman Braden Frager as key players from this year’s team who will be returning. Berke Buyuktuncel, who started 33 games, has announced his intention to transfer.
