With spring practice starting Tuesday, Husker football is preparing for a more normal fall season after the pandemic disrupted things last year.

Head Coach Scott Frost said he’s looking forward to the first home game of the season in September against Buffalo.

“We’re excited to play that game," Frost said. "I hope that we can do something with the schedule to make sure our fans to get in and see us sooner and more often."

Frost said he wants to continue looking for other home games to play before October. He said the Husker football budget was cut by $50 million because of pandemic-related losses.

“I just hope that we can make some kind of alterations. I think Bill (Moos) has mentioned it to make sure our fans can get in and see us sooner and we can get recruits on campus sooner,” Frost said.

The Spring Husker game is scheduled for May 1 at Memorial Stadium with local health guidelines and restrictions in place.
