Heavy rain over the weekend has resulted in saturated gravel roads in parts of Lancaster County, and more rain in the forecast means residents need to remain cautious.

That’s according to County Engineer Pam Dingman, who says, spring weather can be unpredictable, especially in Nebraska.

“I always remind people that during our Flood of 2015 we had a 20% chance of rain, and of course that night we got 6-9 inches around the county,” said Dingman.

With rain forecast to continue over the next few days, Dingman says to remember to never try and cross a road with standing water.

“During the last several years, we've had a number of pipe failures in Lancaster County, and so you know, you might see that water, and there might not be a solid surface under it anymore," she says.
