Heartland United Way in Grand Island is looking for volunteers to distribute Covid-19 vaccine information to the community Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers will walk in neighborhoods and hang informational bags on doors to provide households information on how to get their vaccine.

Eric Garcia-Mendez is the director of community connections, and he said they’re focusing their distribution on under-served neighborhoods and communities where there are diverse populations. The information distributed will be provided in four languages: English, Spanish, Somali and Arabic.

Garcia-Mendez said they distributed information bags to over 1,000 houses last week and hope to do the same this weekend.

“It really takes like a community effort to do this and we’ve been really grateful for the volunteers that we’ve had so far," Garcia-Mendez said. "And it’s really been great to see the support that we have in the community."

Garcia-Mendez said people interested in volunteering can contact him at eric@heartlandunitedway.org, 402-205-4404.
