A recent name, image and likeness agreement will be a game changer, according to head Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule.
Playfly Sports Properties, LLC committed to putting $10.25 million toward NIL activities at Nebraska Athletics. Playfly is the Huskers multimedia rights partner. Of that money, $8 million will be paid out before June. The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the agreement last week.
“That is a huge recruiting differentiator for us moving forward,” Rhule said.
Talented athletes who are good people will have the opportunity to make money at Nebraska, he added.
Shortly after the agreement with Playfly was approved, the 1890 Nebraska collective announced it would wind down operations. That’s a result of the House v. NCAA settlement, also known as the House settlement, which makes collective NIL agreements more difficult, Rhule said.
