After more than a decade out of the state, Greyhound has resumed bus service in Nebraska.
Last month, the nation’s largest intercity bus service provider added several new stops along its Chicago-to-Denver route, including Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island and Lexington.
Greyhound, which is now a subsidiary of German bus operator Flix, added the stops after Burlington Trailways closed down its intercity bus service to focus on charter service. Burlington, coincidentally, had started the Nebraska routes after Greyhound left.
“Greyhound’s new service ensures uninterrupted intercity bus connections across the Midwest and Mountain West, keeping Nebraskans and neighboring communities connected with affordable and reliable travel options,” Karina Frayter, head of communications at Flix North America, said in a statement.
Greyhound served Nebraska with routes across the state for decades, but its last service ended in Omaha in 2012. Before that, it had ended service to Lincoln in 2005.
