Monday morning, Governor Pete Ricketts held a ceremony recognizing Nebraska students who received a perfect score on their ACT test.
Nebraska students in the graduating class of 2022 were recognized at the Nebraska Capitol building this morning. Each student scored a perfect 36 on their ACT.
At the ceremony, Commissioner of Education Matt Blomstedt said he hopes high-achieving students remain in Nebraska.
“There’s a lot of opportunities for students right here in Nebraska for students to commit and be part of the future, ultimately, for the state,” he said.
The CEO of ACT, Janet Goodwin, also spoke at the event. She said only one percent of high school students in the state scored a 36 on the test.
“It’s been a couple hard years, and earning a 36 coming out of the pandemic in all of the disruption we’ve been feeling in our lives is even more impressive,” she said.
According to a statement from Governor Ricketts’ office, Elkhorn South and Millard North high schools are tied for the most top-scoring students. Both schools had three students at this morning’s ceremony.
