Gov. Jim Pillen and other members of a trade mission that went to Germany and the Czech Republic gave an update on the recent trip Wednesday.
Pillen said the mission promoted Nebraska’s ag products, equipment and technologies. While in Germany, Pillen and those representing the state spoke to German companies that currently have a footprint in Nebraska, such as Continental Conti Tech.
The Director for Nebraska’s Department of Economic Development, K.C. Belitz, was part of the group that traveled abroad.
“We're out here promoting Nebraska, at the same time we're able to learn and bring things home, going to make us stronger as an economy going forward,” said Belitz. “(We're) Very excited about both directions of that exchange. We've made some great connections here, and we have learned some things we're going to bring home.”
The trade mission visited EuroTier, the largest international trade show for animal agriculture. While in attendance, Gov. Pillen gave a keynote address at EuroTier’s International Cattle & Pig Event.
While in the Czech Republic, Gov. Pillen and state ag leaders met with the Czech Ministry of Agriculture, where the Czech Ministry of Agriculture signed a letter of intent to collaborate with Nebraska on veterinary measures, livestock production and scientific research exchange.
The trade mission began in the Czech Republic on Nov. 7 and concludes in Germany on Thursday.
