The Douglas County Health Department is reporting a fourth case of monkeypox in the county. This brings the total number of cases in Nebraska to six.

The health department says it is not releasing any information about the latest patient to protect the person’s privacy. The total number of monkeypox cases in the U.S. is now at 2800, and worldwide there are more than 16,000 cases.

The World Health Organization has declared monkeypox a Global Health Emergency, but the Douglas County Health Department says the risk to the general public here remains low.
