Doniphan teen pleads no contest to sexual assault and human trafficking charges

A Nebraska teen facing more than 40 charges of sextortion-related crimes the central Nebraska town of Doniphan agreed to a plea deal Tuesday afternoon.

Cody Holum, an 18-year-old from Doniphan, pleaded no contest to four counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of human trafficking.

Each of the charges is a class 2 felonies, carrying a potential 50-year maximum prison sentence.

Hall County Attorney Martin Klein agreed to dismiss the other charges.

Judge Andrew Butler accepted the plea deal, which means Holum will not go to trial, avoiding the need for victims to testify in public.

The court will now conduct an investigation to determine Holum’s sentence at a hearing scheduled for Jan. 29.
