Doane University in Crete is holding its commencement ceremonies for May 2020 graduates this Sunday. The ceremonies were originally scheduled for May 9, but were postponed due to COVID-19.

Although it has been a while since spring graduates received their diplomas, communications manager Ryan Mueksch said it is important that they still hold a commencement ceremony.

"We’re glad we can still have some family and many a couple friends attend with the graduates at commencement," Mueksch said. "This was really important for us to still hold."

The commencement will be split into two ceremonies, both taking place on the school’s football field.

The first ceremony for graduates from the Crete campus will begin at 10 a.m. and the ceremony for nontraditional students will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Mueksch said out of the 450 May graduates, around half will be in attendance.
