DHHS reports first pediatric flu death in Nebraska

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday the first reported pediatric flu death in the state. There have been two more flu-related deaths in Nebraska this season.
Nationwide, there have been two additional pediatric flu-related deaths, according to the CDC.
In a press release, DHHS officials urged people to get flu shots, treat symptoms with antiviral drugs if needed and stay up to date on the dangers of the flu virus. It also recommends people wash their hands frequently and clean surfaces that are frequently touched.
Young children, people over 65, people who are pregnant and people with chronic lung diseases are among those who are most at risk.
