The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced a new feature on the Nebraska State Immunization Information System (NESIIS) this week that will provide a QR code that Nebraskans can use to download a copy of their immunization records on any phone or tablet for quick and easy access.
A press release stated that Nebraskans have had the option to securely download their personal immunization information, or their child’s, from NESIIS to their Android or iOS mobile device since June 10. This provides an option to share immunization records from NESIIS quickly and easily with healthcare providers, schools, or other organizations.
“One of the many benefits this new feature provides is the ability for Nebraskans to have on-the-go immunization records,” Dr. Timothy Tesmer, DHHS Chief Medical Officer, said in a press release. “This will save time during school registration and for healthcare appointments and international travel requirements as parents and individuals can scan the QR code, sign in, and access their records on their phone or tablet.”
In addition to offering access to immunization records on computers and mobile devices, immunization records can be input into any app that accepts Smart Health cards.
A NESIIS resources website is available for an instructional video and quick reference guide to use the service.
