Tuesday evening a thunderstorm is expected to form over western Nebraska and quickly move toward eastern Nebraska Wednesday morning.
Jordan Thies with the National Weather Service in Hastings, Nebraska said the cell could be on the strong to severe side.
“Damaging wind looks like the primary threat,” Thies said. “Damaging winds gusts around 60, 65 miles per hour but some quarter-sized hail can’t be ruled out.”
The most persistent rainfall is likely to fall on western Nebraska, with a slight possibility of flash flooding. Some of that precipitation could turn into snow over western and central Nebraska.
Thies said to keep light outdoor objects secured and protected from the strong winds. He said stay connected to local media and weather alerts through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, also called NOAA.
