Creighton volleyball is ranked sixth in the country, the highest the team has ever been ranked.
The Bluejays have been ranked sixth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll for five weeks in a row.
Rob Anderson is a spokesperson for the athletic department and said the national attention is good for recruiting. But other metrics are more important for postseason seeding.
“Our coaches really pay a lot of attention to the RPI, which is kind of a computer-based metric that evaluates how you've done: your winning percentage, how your opponents’ winning percentage has done,” he said. “And in that, Creighton has been as high as three. Right now they're four.”
The program has consistently been in the top 25 in recent years. CU’s previous record was polling out at No. 7 in 2017.
“Texas is back-to-back defending national champions,” Anderson said. "They're right behind Creighton at seven. So that kind of shows you the company that the Bluejays are in."
The school is 17-2 on the season. It beat three ranked teams, including top-10 wins versus Kansas and Purdue.
Creighton’s two losses are road games against Louisville and in-state rival Nebraska, both of which are in the top five.
CU travels to the nation’s capital to play Georgetown on Friday.
