The Creighton Bluejays volleyball team defeated Ole Miss in its first round matchup of the NCAA Tournament last night. Creighton, the 14th overall seed in the tournament, won all three sets against Ole Miss.
Now, the Bluejays host Kansas tonight, December 3rd. A chance to earn a spot into the final 16 teams of the tournament is on the line this evening. Kansas toppled Oregon last night to advance. Creighton’s Head Coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth said Kansas was impressive in the first round yesterday.
“KU (Kansas Univ.) looked crazy good,” Booth said. “They did everything well. They passed well. They served well. They mixed up shots defensively. I mean, they just wore Oregon down. Oregon’s such a physical team, so I think they were pretty stoked about the way they played.”
The Kansas Jayhawks won its match by winning all three sets.
This will be the 12th meeting on the volleyball court between the Midwestern schools. Kansas leads the all-time series with an 8-3 record. The Jayhawks enter tonight’s match with a 17-11 record. Creighton boasts a 31-3 record and a 14-match winning streak, after last night’s triumph.
First serve between the Jayhawks and Bluejays is scheduled for 7 p.m.
