New therapy services are making their way to southeast Nebraska.
Complete Behavioral Health, a team of licensed and professional therapists from the state, is offering support to people in non-metropolitan areas of the state.
The group is highlighting its applied behavioral analysis (ABA) services. The science-based therapy program is for kids diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. According to Autism Society Nebraska, 1 in 36 kids will receive a diagnosis.
“That's a large population, and in the area, there just weren't any sort of related services for kids with autism, and so opening this clinic will be huge,” said Ariel Sammons, office manager for the team. “The closest (clinics are) in Lincoln and Omaha, and just having this service nearby will be crucial.”
Families have already started taking advantage of the services, Sammons said.
“We have seen a great outpour of just excitement to have something down there,” Sammons said. “A lot of families were just looking for something to be closer to them, and we've seen a lot of excitement from families sharing just how great of an addition it'll be to the community.”
