A global company has announced plans to expand its operations in the Omaha area.

Eaton Corp, which has a facility in central Omaha, plans to build a new 370,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Bellevue.

The company that makes products for the power management industry said the new facility is scheduled to open in the first half of 2027 and will make medium-voltage switchgear products for data centers.

Mike Yelton, Eaton’s electrical sector president, said Eaton is making “bold investments” to drive growth.

“As we continue to invest in U.S. manufacturing, we’re grateful for the strong support from the state of Nebraska and the city of Bellevue” Yelton said in a news release. “Our newest manufacturing investment builds on the incredible abilities of our long-term employees in the region.”

Eaton said employees at the existing Eaton facility in central Omaha will move to the new site once it’s open. The expansion, which will cost more than $30 million, also will create the need for an additional 200 engineering, manufacturing and production jobs with hiring set to start later this year. That will more than double the company's Omaha-area workforce, which currently stands at about 160.

“Eaton’s investment in Bellevue marks a fantastic milestone for our community,” Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike said in the news release. We have made job creation the cornerstone of my administration, and we’re thrilled to partner with Eaton on this exciting new adventure by bringing hundreds of jobs to Bellevue.”

The announcement of the Bellevue expansion comes less than a year after Eaton announced a major layoff of 200 workers in Kearney, where it made engine valves.
