With the holidays near, the Center for People in Need in Lincoln is providing holiday cheer by holding its annual Thanksgiving holiday distribution. This is an opportunity for qualifying low-income families to receive a special food distribution this upcoming weekend and the days before Thanksgiving.

"We’re hoping to keep the holidays bright for all of Lincoln’s residents. Thanksgiving was a challenge last year with the pandemic – we want to ensure that families are able to celebrate the holidays this year. That a lack of food doesn’t prevent them from celebrating Thanksgiving," said Carol Funk, executive director.

The special Thanksgiving food distributions will be Saturday, Nov. 20, Monday Nov. 22 and Tuesday, Nov. 23. Social distancing and capacity limits for attendees in rooms will be in place to follow the Lancaster County directed health measures.

The event is intended for those who earn at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines. More information regarding qualifications can be found by visiting the Center's website or calling for more information.

Volunteers are a critical component of pulling off the event, and a large number are needed each day. Those interested in helping out can visit the Center's website for sign up times. Due to the concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, only fully-vaccinated volunteers are being accepted.
