The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission will have a new executive director.

Gov. Jim Pillen recommended Casey Ricketts, who is not related to Sen. Pete Ricketts, for the role Wednesday.

In January, Ricketts was appointed as the acting executive director of the commission and officially took on the interim role in March. That’s when former director Tom Sage retired.

She inherited a small department at the time, with fewer than 10 employees. She will start immediately and collect a starting salary of $135,000, according to the Governor’s office.
