The Bryan Health Network will kick off mental illness awareness week with a free virtual event tonight. The discussion will focus on how social media use impacts youth mental health.
Behavioral Health Director Dr. Dave Miers said social media can keep us more connected, but overuse can impact a person’s wellbeing.
"There's been a lot of studies, a lot of evidence showing how social media can affect our youth and their mental health, in terms of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation," Miers said.
The event will feature speakers, free online mental health screenings, podcasts, and educational videos. Pre-register for the event at www.bryanhealth.org/savethekids.
