Creighton University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will both travel to the Lone Star State to compete in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.

The No. 9 seed Bluejays head to Austin to face No. 8 seed Illinois on Saturday. Creighton enters the tournament with a 26-6 record.

The University of Texas received a No. 1 seed. The Longhorns will host the first and second round matchups. The winner of Illinois and Creighton will likely play the top-seeded Longhorns out of the Southeastern Conference.

Creighton placed 2nd in the Big East regular season standings. Only 11-time national champion UConn finished higher.

In his 23rd season with Creighton, Jim Flanery has now made eight NCAA Tournaments.

The No. 10 seed Cornhuskers will play against No. 7 seed Louisville in Fort Worth on Friday. Nebraska holds a 21-11 record going into Friday’s matchup.

Texas Christian University will welcome Nebraska and Louisville for first and second round competition. TCU earned a No. 2 seed and plays Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday. The winners of that contest will play the winner of NU and Louisville.

The Huskers finished 10th in the Big Ten this regular season. NU reached the conference tournament quarterfinals before falling to eventual No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, the UCLA Bruins.

Head coach Amy Williams has helped Nebraska reach four NCAA Tournaments in her eight complete seasons running the program (COVID-19 canceled the 2020 NCAA Tournament). But the Cornhuskers haven’t advanced past the second round under Williams.
