An Omaha couple is planning a “Back the Blue” event Saturday morning to show support for local law enforcement.

Bill Williams and his wife Evonne lead the non-profit Patriotic Productions. Williams said their organization is focused on honoring veterans, but they wanted to show support for law enforcement after seeing all the media attention surrounding the police.

"We just felt that the silent majority needs to step up and share their support," Williams said. "So that is why we’re hoping for a nice crowd."

The hour-long event starts at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Park.

"It will be an hour well spent," Williams said. "We’re really excited about it and we hope it is well attended."

It will include music and speakers such as the head of the Omaha police association, a former Omaha North High School principal, and the pastor of Trinity Hope Foursquare Church.

Recent protests in Nebraska and around the world have opposed police brutality and the deaths of Black Americans at the hands of police.
