A unique, 10,000-item garage sale is happening in Omaha this weekend. The Douglas County Historical Society began the sale Thursday of anything from jewelry and clothes to house and yard tools.

Kathy Aultz is the Executive Director of the Douglas County Historical Society and said profits from the sale help fund the preservation process of historical items.

“We’ll have the resources to save the things that are important to our local history,” she said…”to be able to help people that are doing historic(al) research, genealogy research, research on books that they may be writing.”

Aultz said all garage sale items were donated to the historical society, with collectable items being popular.
