Shane Adams
Shane Adams joined Nebraska Public Media as a K-12 Education Specialist in September 2025 after ten years of teaching high school social studies. Shane grew up in Omaha and has earned degrees studying at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and in Omaha. You can often find him cycling on the MoPac or catching live music at the Bourbon.
Amy Cassner
Amy Cassner joined Nebraska Public Media in 2022 as an Early Childhood Education Specialist. Amy brings over a decade of experience supporting young children, families, and educators. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to empowering parents and early childhood professionals with practical strategies, knowledge, and confidence to nurture the development of all learners. She previously served as an early intervention special education teacher, where she worked closely with children with special needs and their caregivers to promote growth and learning. Amy holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education and a Master of Legal Studies, both from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Matt Heusman
Matt Heusman joined Nebraska Public Media as a K-12 Education Specialist in 2022. Matt brings a wide range of experience to his current position. He has worked in education at a school level as a classroom teacher and coach, district level as a curriculum technologist, regional level as a professional development consultant, and state level leading and implementing statewide school improvement initiatives. Matt is passionate about educational design, technology integration and media arts.
Jessica Mitchell-McCollough
Jessica Mitchell-McCollough, PhD, joined Nebraska Public Media as Director of Education in 2022. Serving nearly 20 years in the field of education, she has taught in K–12 classrooms, trained teachers, and developed curriculum, while also leading education initiatives in community and media spaces. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Jessica is passionate about connecting formal education with playful, everyday learning—helping children of all ages and families discover meaningful ways to grow, explore, and thrive together. Jessica is also a proud mom of 3 children, her greatest teachers in life.
Neli Morales Garcia
Neli Morales Garcia joined Nebraska Public Media in 2025 as a Bilingual Early Childhood Education Specialist. Before joining Nebraska Public Media, she worked with a nonprofit organization in Kearney, Nebraska, where she helped strengthen early childhood initiatives and support community partnerships. Neli is passionate about promoting bilingual learning and creating accessible, engaging resources for educators and families. She enjoys connecting PBS Kids content to hands-on learning experiences that celebrate language and culture. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Early Childhood Education at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She has experience conducting language assessments and collecting and analyzing data with children ages 2–5.
