News director

Jay Omar joined the Nebraska Public Media News team as news director in 2023 after spending seven years at 10/11 News in Lincoln. He has experience in radio, digital, television, and newspaper. He was born and raised in Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He has spent most of his life in Nebraska outside of a stint reporting in Oregon. He has family scattered across the state, including in Omaha, Beatrice, and Alliance.
