NET’s ‘Final Cut Live: Online Film Festival’ Features Discussion with Local Filmmakers

LINCOLN, Neb. (Oct. 12, 2020) – Three local filmmakers and their films will be featured in the live virtual online event and discussion “Final Cut Live: Online Film Festival,” at 7 p.m. CT, Thursday, Oct. 22, on the NET Nebraska Facebook and YouTube pages.

The event will offer participants the chance to learn about the art of independent filmmaking in Nebraska and the Heartland. The three films to be discussed in the online event are part of “Final Cut: Filmmakers Showcase 2,” an NET television documentary produced in collaboration with Omaha’s Film Streams.

Featured films and filmmakers include:

“Just Me”

Darcy Lueking Bahensky – Holdrege, Neb.

“Everything Is Going to Be Fine”

Brandon Oest – Coralville, Iowa

“Mating Dance”

Mitchell Lyon – Aurora, Neb.

“Just Me” is a strong portrayal of a young mother who interviews for her dream job as she struggles to overcome the pitfalls of intergenerational poverty. “Everything is Going to Be Fine” is a very personal look at how the filmmaker’s grandmother struggles with advanced dementia. “Mating Dance” is classic story of lust turned to love, love turned to jealousy and a couple of birds that will put it all out on the line.

“Final Cut Live: Online Film Festival” will be hosted by NET’s Nancy Finken and Angie Balsarini from Film Streams in Omaha.

Supported in part by the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
