Nebraska Public Media Televises ‘Omaha Symphony in Concert: Scheherazade’
LINCOLN, Neb. (Jan. 8, 2025) – The continued partnership between Nebraska Public Media and the Omaha Symphony will bring another of the symphony’s concerts to television viewers across the state in January.
“Omaha Symphony in Concert: Scheherazade” will air at 8 p.m. CT, Friday, Jan. 24, on Nebraska Public Media.
This orchestral work is inspired by the tales of “The Arabian Nights” in which the Sultan vows to take a new wife each night and have her executed the next morning. However, his bride Scheherazade saves herself by engaging the Sultan’s interest in tales that took 1,001 nights to recount.
This recorded program featuring concert master Susanna Perry Gilmore as Scheherazade and mezzo soprano Kelley O’Connor is directed by Ankush Kumar Bahl.
The Omaha Symphony concerts on Nebraska Public Media are being brought to television in part by generous donors from both organizations.
