Nebraska Public Media Invites Young Children and Families to “Jamming on the Job”

LINCOLN, Neb. (June 5, 2025) – Nebraska Public Media is inviting children and families to explore future careers at “Family Day with Jamming on the Job” on Sunday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT, at the network studios at 1800 N. 33rd St. in Lincoln.

This free family event features two performances from PBS KIDS “Jamming on the Job” podcast stars Christina Sanabria and Andrés Salguero from 123 Andrés, plus musician Pierce Freelon as BoomBox, as well as music from Nebraska’s family-friendly band The String Beans.

Space is limited, so reservations are required for each of the three performances at NebraskaPublicMedia.org/familyday.

“Jamming on the Job” is a music-inspired podcast for kids ages 4-8 and their parents and caregivers. The group tours the country, performing songs about the world of work. Each place they go, the group meets a grown-up with a different kind of job who helps them along their way.

“Family Day with Jamming on the Job” is supported by Nebraska Bank of Commerce and several local businesses providing hands-on, career-based activities for children, including Bluestem Health, Levander’s Body Shop, LOVB Omaha, Lux Center for the Arts, Nebraska Recycling Council, North Creek Family Dentistry, Scooter’s Coffee, Sower Books and Speedway Motors.

There will also be three food trucks on site during the “Jamming on the Job” event. Food will be available for purchase from Ana’s Pupusas, Kona Ice and Papi Churros.

All families are welcome to attend “Family Day with Jamming on the Job,” but activities are designed for children ages 3 and older. Families are asked to register for only one “Jamming on the Job” performance. They may also register for the performance of The String Beans.
