Nebraska Public Media Expands FM Radio Coverage in Columbus Area
LINCOLN, Neb. (May 28, 2025) – Nebraska Public Media expanded its FM radio coverage with the addition of a new transmitter, KUNE at 88.7 FM in Columbus.
Those who listen in Boone, Madison, Merrick, Nance and Platte counties will now find a stronger signal, making it much easier to listen to Nebraska Public Media.
The new station will not only give more listeners access to news and music, but provide more access to public safety information, including alerts from the Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service during times of severe weather.
This completes upgrades Nebraska Public Media made during the last year with new stations near Falls City (KQNE 89.9 FM) added in May 2024, Broken Bow (KGNE 89.3 FM) added in January 2025 and McCook (KNNE 90.7 FM) added in February 2025.
“This final installation in Columbus represents the culmination of a year-long effort to strengthen our radio network statewide,” said Stacey Decker, general manager/CEO of Nebraska Public Media. “This series of upgrades affirms our commitment to ensure that every Nebraskan – no matter where they live – access to essential emergency information, alongside our trusted news, music and cultural programming.”
