Nebraska Public Media Earns a Public Media Journalists Association Award
LINCOLN, Neb. (July 1, 2025) – A Nebraska Public Media content partnership earned a first place Public Media Journalists Association award during the organization’s 2025 conference in Kansas City, Mo.
In the enterprise category, the radio story “Schwan’s to Yelloh: the journey of a Midwest food delivery icon” took first place in the news staff division of eight to 15 people. Harvest Public Media and Nebraska Public Media’s former reporter Elizabeth Rembert produced the story.
Rembert’s work tells the story of Schwan’s delivery trucks and how growing competition in the food delivery space has made the beloved company subject to various closings, layoffs and a name change.
PMJA is an association representing those responsible for the day-to-day direction, reporting and editing in local public media newsrooms.
This year, PMJA bestowed 266 awards to 113 organizations. The conference works to recognize the best work in public media journalism from across the country, where stations compete against others with similar-sized newsrooms. Overall, judges reviewed more than 1,450 entries.
