‘Friday LIVE’ Event at Lied Center Features Ukulele Orchestra

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 3, 2022) – Nebraska Public Media’s “Friday LIVE” arts and entertainment radio show will feature a special performance by George Hinchliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain when it broadcasts at 9:59 a.m., Friday, March 18, live from the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St., in Lincoln.

The public is invited to this free event. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. As required by the artist, masks are required to be worn at all times while inside the Lied Center. For more information, visit liedcenter.org/ukuleleorchestra.

The world-renowned ukulele superstars return to Lincoln with their toe-tapping music, hilarious banter and sheer superlative entertainment. With fans ranging from the Queen of England to David Bowie and beyond, they are masters of the unexpected, known for re-imaging folks songs, twisting classical favorites and uncovering quirky versions of rock covers. The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain will perform a full public concert at the Lied Center on the evening of March 18.

“Friday LIVE” host Genevieve Randall will also give audience members the latest news about music, arts, literature and events happening around the state. Lincoln-based singer songwriter and String Beans member Daniel Christian will perform a song, and director Ed Polochick will talk about upcoming concerts with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra.
