Among 238 nominees from stations of all sizes across the country, judges selected Schwitzer as one of 22 finalists.

The Rising Stars initiative recognizes up-and-coming public media talent ages 35 and under in a variety of audience-facing and behind-the-scenes roles at stations and national organizations.

“I'm thrilled that the public media community is learning what we in Nebraska Public Media Labs already know, that Jacob is a rising star,” said Chad Davis, Nebraska Public Media Chief Innovation Officer. “His kindness, deep commitment to cultural representation and storytelling, and unwavering dedication to learning and innovation shine through in the projects he develops and the way he supports the work of others. It's exciting for all of us in Labs to be on this creative journey with him.”

“The tremendous response to this new initiative demonstrates that there’s a real interest in acknowledging the unique contributions of younger staff in a broad range of jobs, and celebrating their passion for their work,” Drizin said.
