Broadcasters Honor Nebraska Public Media’s Dale Johnson
LINCOLN, Neb. (Aug. 13, 2025) – Nebraska Public Media “Morning Edition” host and reporter Dale Johnson was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association (NBA) Hall of Fame on Aug. 12, at the association’s annual convention in La Vista, Neb.
“Dale represents the very best of public media. His reporting is thoughtful, accurate and deeply connected to the communities we serve. Our listeners trust him, respect him and genuinely enjoy hearing his voice on the air. We’re very proud to see his dedication and talent recognized by the NBA,” said Nebraska Public Media General Manager and CEO Stacey Decker.
Johnson is a veteran journalist who has reported news in Nebraska for more than 50 years, including the past two years at Nebraska Public Media. He began his career after high school at KUVR in Holdrege, Neb., and since then he’s covered thousands of stories from across the state, including the Nebraska Legislature, politics, education, agriculture and health, as well as breaking news.
After Holdrege, Johnson worked at KRNY in Kearney, until moving to Omaha in 1979 to work at KFAB. Dale also spent time at KRGI in Grand Island and was a radio host and news director at KFOR in Lincoln for nearly 40 years.
During his career, Johnson has earned many other state, regional and national awards for his work, including several “Best Newscast” honors from the NBA and an award for “Liberty Minutes,” a series of reports on immigrants who passed through Ellis Island and made their homes in Nebraska.
Johnson joins other Nebraska Public Media Hall of Fame inductees including Rod Bates, Leta Powell Drake, Don Gill, Ron Hull, Bill Kelly and Jack McBride.
