‘Backyard Farmer’ Makes Stop at Nebraska State Fair Aug. 28

LINCOLN, Neb. (Aug. 15, 2023) – “Backyard Farmer” will record an episode at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island, Monday, Aug. 28.

The public is invited to be part of this free event in the Raising Nebraska Building with a question-and-answer panel at 4:15 p.m. and live recording at 5 p.m.

From insects, turf and weeds, rots and spots to landscapes, vegetables and critters, host Kim Todd, Nebraska Extension landscape horticulture specialist, and a panel of Nebraska Extension experts will answer lawn and garden questions.

Experts on the panel include: Jody Green, urban entomologist; Roch Gaussoin, turfgrass specialist; Amy Timmerman, cropping systems extension educator and Elizabeth Exstrom, horticulture, landscape and environmental systems extension educator.

A special segment will feature a Beemer, Neb. grandma and grandson duo that loves finding caterpillars and watching them turn into butterflies.

This program will air on television at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 31 on Nebraska Public Media.

The longest-running, locally-produced television series in the nation, “Backyard Farmer” airs on Nebraska Public Media Thursdays at 7 p.m. through Sept. 14. It repeats at 10 a.m., on Saturdays on Nebraska Public Media and at 4 p.m. Sundays and 5 p.m. Mondays on Create.

“Backyard Farmer” is a co-production between Nebraska Public Media and Nebraska Extension.
