After years as a familiar voice, Valerie Kahler officially becomes host of the most-listened-to classical music radio show in America.

Valerie Kahler takes the reins of Performance Today as Fred Child completes his 25-year run. Listeners are familiar with her voice as she was a frequent guest host for the show.
“I’m thrilled to step into the role of host for Performance Today, a show I’ve admired since my earliest days in radio for its smarts, charm and talent for sharing classical music at its living, breathing, occasionally mischievous – and always excellent – best,” Kahler says.
Kahler grew up in a musical family playing cello and piano. She began her radio career in 1989 as a volunteer at KNAU – now Arizona Public Radio. She was a classical host and music director for more than a decade there before moving to Minnesota to work for Minnesota Public Radio.
Performance Today airs on Nebraska Public Media’s News/Classical radio channel weekdays from 8 – 10 p.m. CT.
