For 70 years, Nebraska Public Media has been the trusted voice connecting communities and delivering content that matters.

As our network celebrates 70 years, we’re reflecting on past accomplishments, but more importantly we’re looking ahead to where we’re going.

This has been an unprecedented year for Nebraska Public Media. Our work remains more essential than ever, even as we face a major challenge: the rescission of nearly $4 million in annual federal funding.

Despite this setback, our mission is clear. We remain steadfast in delivering trusted local journalism, educational resources, emergency communications and programming that reflects and connects Nebraska’s diverse communities.

Audience needs continue to grow, and the pace of change keeps accelerating. But public media has always been adaptable. This year we expanded our news coverage, deepened our engagement and continued innovating how we reach audiences on air, in digital spaces and in person.

You may know us for our television and radio broadcasts, but so much of our work happens behind the scenes: supporting emergency alerts, leading innovative education efforts in and out of the classroom, and expanding public access to our Unicameral. We remain dedicated to these efforts.

As only the fourth general manager in our network’s history, I take the responsibility seriously to lead at this pivotal moment. We’re not just meeting today’s challenges. We are laying the groundwork for a stronger, more resilient Nebraska Public Media for the next 70 years and beyond.
