A Network Built for Our Whole State
Annual Report 2025-2026
Nebraska Public Media Omaha expands local journalism, NPR programming and statewide storytelling on 101.9 FM.
The launch of Nebraska Public Media Omaha on 101.9 FM realizes our long-standing mission under the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Act to operate statewide educational and public media networks that connect vibrant metropolitan cities with growing regional communities and cherished small towns.
Nebraska Public Media Omaha is a milestone we’ve been working toward for years. The new signal brings our dedication to local journalism and Nebraska’s stories to listeners in the state’s largest city, while also helping Omaha’s stories reach more Nebraskans.
The daily lineup pairs trusted NPR news and conversation programs with local hosting and reporting from our Omaha-based journalists and our award-winning statewide newsroom. Stories from Omaha’s neighborhoods, businesses and cultural institutions join legislative coverage and community-based reporting, building a shared understanding of the state we call home.
Between Morning Edition with Dale Johnson as the sun rises and All Things Considered with host Grant Winterer during the evening drive, Nebraska Public Media Omaha features favorite programs including Fresh Air, Here & Now and On Point.
In the evenings, the signal shifts to an eclectic blend of rock, blues, folk, world and alternative music inspired by Omaha’s vibrant independent music scene. Weekends include more NPR favorites alongside locally hosted music programs like Flow Lab and The Verge that celebrate a wide variety of artists and voices.
New signal. New reporters. New reach.
Nebraska Public Media Omaha on 101.9 FM is more than a new radio station. We’ve made a major investment in local journalism to build what’s next and strengthen the exchange of stories between Nebraska's largest city and communities across the state.
As we expand our presence in Omaha, we're growing our newsroom with two additional reporters dedicated to covering people, issues and ideas. Their reporting joins the work of our statewide newsroom, bringing more local stories to all Nebraskans while adding new perspectives from the state’s largest metropolitan area.
And an additional legislative reporter further strengthens our state government coverage, providing deeper reporting on the decisions that affect every Nebraskan. From Millard to Merriman and the Blackstone District to Bridgeport, 101.9 FM delivers trusted local, statewide, national and international news with an Omaha perspective that enriches coverage for the entire state.
