VMM Marketing & Communications Specialist

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will play a key role in creating greater awareness of Vision Maker Media (VMM), a national nonprofit organization based in Lincoln, Nebraska. VMM’s primary purpose is to deliver high quality broadcast content to Public Broadcasting. We work with independent producers and stations across the country to fund, produce, distribute and market 3 to 10 programs annually. We are also involved in the professional development of filmmakers through workshops and regular communications, as well as youth media and film festival tour. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will report to the Director of Programs and Projects.

Broadcast Production Student Worker

Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska’s PBS and NPR stations, is looking for two students who will gain knowledge and experience in video production, Avid editing, remote broadcasts, and television studio production. Create and edit short video segments for broadcast & digital distribution and develop skills in content storytelling and videography in the fields of sports, human interest, history, and the arts. Assist in the remote truck, EFP, and studio. Assist producers with show preparation, research, scheduling, and field production. Share responsibility for cataloging and record keeping of digital media, archive footage and research materials. Assist in gathering information for short and long-form documentaries and other projects. On-air/voice talent potential is a plus, but not a requirement. Student majoring in Broadcasting or related field. Experience in television production a plus. Must be highly organized and able to work on a variety of assigned projects. Must be willing to collaborate with a team of experienced content creators. 10-20 hours per week.

IT Systems Engineer

Perform network and server support for NET computer systems in a broadcast environment. Maintain and configure firewalls, routers, enterprise networking, proxies, VPN, VOIP, VMWare, SAN, fiber connectivity, and Windows/Linux servers. Design, install and integrate systems for the NET Network Operations Center and Transmission sites. Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software and network problems for the Network Operations and Production System. Install, load and configure new servers and computer hardware to be used in the network operations center.

Install computer hardware and software, provide maintenance for PC’s, laptops, printers, and associated peripherals for NET. Provide end user support for enterprise level applications and Avid editing applications. Research information pertaining to the integration of computer hardware and software for the Avid Unity Editing environment. Provide technical support for the IS Helpdesk and Avid editing platform users. Create and maintain images used to load NET’s computer hardware. Move computer hardware and help maintain the computer hardware and software inventory.

PT Radio Announcer

Under limited supervision, researches, preps, produces and announces an on-air shift for Nebraska Educational Telecommunications.
Make live on-air announcements, including classical music announcing, read underwriter copy, weather forecasts and news. Expected to participate in on-air fundraisers. Operate studio electronics such as broadcast board, CD players, and audio playback from broadcast software. Will also be assigned to substitute announce on news magazines and host prerecorded specials.
