Social Media Student Worker

Get hands-on experience with how organizations use social media to market. Work with professional tools and learn business strategies for increasing engagement that you can list on your resume when you graduate. All while being employed by an organization that is student-friendly and looking to enrich the lives and engage the minds of your fellow Nebraskans.

• Capture photos and videos at events as well as behind-the-scenes looks at Nebraska Public Media staff at work and in the community
• Create content for social media that helps to tell the story of Nebraska Public Media
• Schedule our social media posts, including localizing suggested posts from PBS, NPR and other program providers
• Identify available media resources with cleared rights for use on social media

Senior Director of Engineering

This professional-level position provides technical and advisory support to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the administration of broadcast and internet-based distribution systems. The role oversees the day-to-day operation and maintenance of network infrastructure, including broadcast operations, transmission systems, and associated equipment. This position supervises technical staff, coordinates system performance evaluations, manages project planning, and assumes operational control in the CTO’s absence.

This is professional work providing technical and advisory support to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for technical administration of broadcast network systems. The incumbent maintains responsibility for a variety of functions concerning broadcast, internet-based distribution and/or production equipment as well as supervising the personnel who direct the operation of such equipment; performs related work as required.

Major and Planned Giving Officer

The Major and Planned Giving Officer is responsible for identifying and securing local and regional major and planned gifts and grants in support of the Nebraska Public Media Foundation by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewardship of major donors and planned gifts. The primary duties of this role will include: Develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies for a portfolio of donors. Create and implement strategies for donor qualification. Prepare written proposals, informational materials, endowment agreements, and gift illustrations. Maintain a working knowledge of planned gift vehicles and contribute to strategies that support planned gift fundraising. Assist the Director of Major and Planned Giving and the Chief Strategy Officer in department activities to attain foundation goals and participate in organization planning and development. Communications Student Worker

Great opportunity for Advertising, PR and Journalism majors. The Communications and Marketing Team at Nebraska Public Media, is seeking a student worker who would be responsible for completing special projects as assigned, providing assistance to the staff and general office work. This is a paid position through the University of Nebraska working for the local PBS and NPR affiliates. Applicants must be able to work year-round, 15-20 hours a week with flexible schedule during regular business hours. More hours are available during summer. This position will start on or after May 27th.
Employee may work on a variety of projects including, but not limited to, news releases, tracking media clips, Constant Contact, e-newsletters, registration pages, radio scripts, coordination of graphics for advertising, promotion and other administrative duties as needed. Must have strong communication skills, creativity and ability to write and edit news releases using AP Style. Looking for an organized, self-starter who enjoys problem solving and building creative solutions. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. May represent us occasionally at public functions, along with other staff members.

Digital Production Student Worker

Nebraska Public Media is looking for a student who will gain knowledge and experience in video production, Avid editing, graphic design and television studio production. Create and edit short video segments for digital distribution and develop skills in content storytelling and videography in the field of sports, human interest, history and the arts. Assist in creating graphic based content for social media. Assist producers with show preparation, research, scheduling, and field production. Share responsibility for cataloging and record keeping of digital media, archive footage and research materials. Assist in gathering information for short and long-form documentaries and other projects.

Requirements:
• Student majoring in Broadcasting or related field. Experience in digital content creation a plus.
• Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects.
• Must be highly organized and able to work on a variety of assigned projects.
• Must be willing to collaborate with a team of experienced content creators.
• 10-20 hours per week.
