Director of Production Services

The Director of Production Services at Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska’s PBS and NPR station is responsible for the full gamut of production resources—state-of-the-art equipment and in-house professional staff for studio, EFP, OB (outside broadcast trucks) for station and contract productions for local, regional, and national distribution. The Director will work to expedite execution, coordinate key resources, facilitate and manage project logistics, and provide transparency of project information to staff and in addition will prepare production budgets, monitor revenue and expense budgets in accordance with annual goals and expectations.

News Director

Nebraska Public Media is looking for an On Air Host/Multimedia Reporter/Producer to join our team . The On Air Host under general supervision, researches, writes and produces feature stories and programs for Nebraska Public Media; produces and announces an on-air shift for radio; performs related work as assigned. Utilizes professional judgment to determine overall content and effectiveness of radio and news programming. Researches, writes, edits, produces, and narrates a long and short-form stories to broadcast to the listening audience. Conducts and records telephone and in-person interviews by arranging interview time and place to record pertinent information that may possibly be used for broadcast. Serves as editor and lead producer or, as a team member for large projects. Hosts special programs to include selecting music, writing and timing all leads, writing the rundown, and hosting the show. Archives newscast story audio and /or video, news copy, and related materials to be kept for future reference

Chief Radio Engineer

This Radio Chief Engineer will be in charge of all radio engineering duties which will include, installation, integration, operation and maintenance of Nebraska Public Media. Spanish Translation Student Worker

Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska's PBS and NPR Stations is looking for a student to:

· Produce accurate English-Spanish translations of educational materials, website copy, production scripts
· Accurate specifically refers to the capturing the essence of the English text and translating that in a way that conveys that essence in a grammatically correct and culturally appropriate manner.
· Translation may be 100% bespoke, or may involve editing robo-translations generated by tools like Google Translate

Skills Necessary
· Fluency in Spanish required, must be able to speak and write technically with considerations for cultural competency and language variety.
· Spanish language competence across the fields of science, medicine, history, and education highly desirable. Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, journalism, translation or interpretation would be an asset.

10-20 hours per week, all offsite work

Production Engineer

This position is responsible for monitoring all equipment in the Avid edit suites, assist the maintenance department with troubleshooting, software upgrades and equipment installation; computer editing, setup and operation of video cameras, and operation of media servers. Television Master Control Operator

Nebraska Public Media, Nebraska's PBS & NPR Stations is looking for a professional who will perform scheduled switching operations for Nebraska Public Media (NPM) Media Control and/or Network Operations Center as logged, using automated playlists and manual processes. Perform video server, videotape, and optical disc operations; records and plays programming for all of NPM's multi-channel broadcast television, cable, Video-On-Demand, and streaming services. Use remote control software to operate statewide Digital TV, FM and HD radio transmitters and translators. Perform on-going system measurements for NPM using waveform monitors, vectorscopes, stream analyzers, and audio measurement devices. Monitor and control all auxiliary services, including but not limited to: Closed Captioning, Second Audio Programming, Audio Description, NPM Radio, and Radio Talking Book. Responsible for control of the statewide Emergency Alert System and AMBER alerts. Other duties include satellite uplinks and coordination with the Public Broadcasting Service on their Diverse, Disaster and Maintenance System.
