Programming That Connects & Inspires
Public media in Nebraska reflects the wholeness of our great state – where narrow highways twist through fertile valleys and climb gentle hills, and in vibrant metropolitan cities with rich histories and small towns with cherished connections. Original broadcasts from PBS; news from NPR; high school, collegiate and professional sports; and local storytelling deepen our appreciation for each other and the world.

Information for All
Our award-winning team of local news reporters has strong Nebraska ties and a powerful commitment to in-depth, trusted journalism.
Forward-thinking collaborations with NPR’s Midwest Newsroom, Harvest Public Media and America Amplified increase our capacity to research complex issues, offer more perspectives and create more valuable conversations – strengthening the future of local journalism.

Supporting Children & Families
We nurture meaningful partnerships with parents, educators and caregivers to support children as they learn and grow. With the support of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s Ready To Learn grant alongside trusted PBS KIDS content, we created a learning neighborhood in Fremont and now with increased support, this effort is going statewide. We have also create educational resources about government and history, including Nebraska Studies and the Nebraska Virtual Capitol tour.
Powering Nebraska’s Emergency Alert System
Working in partnership with local, state and federal agencies, we relay information to all Nebraskans from the Emergency Alert System and originate tests and alerts from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Nebraska State Patrol. Our network also maintains Nebraska’s NOAA Weather Service transmitters which issue weather warnings and safety alerts to help protect those who live in our state.
Funding
The public media partnership between the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission and the University of Nebraska provides exceptional service as we engage with people living in communities across Nebraska. We balance the state, university and federal investments we receive with strategic local fundraising so that every Nebraskan can access trusted educational resources, public safety information and high-quality, local television and radio programming provided by Nebraska Public Media. Every dollar becomes part of our vision to create one of the most innovative, resourceful and unique public media partnerships in the country.
